Sources first
Where a guide makes a claim about holdings, access or a record type, it points to the official holder: The National Archives, the Ministry of Defence, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, The Gazette, or a service museum. Holdings and access rules change, so the holder's current guidance is the authority, not this site's summary of it.
No fabricated facts
This site does not invent figures, authors, fees, eligibility rules, contacts or coverage dates. If a fact cannot be checked against a primary official source, the guide states the position generally or omits it. No guide determines any individual's service, entitlement or award.
General information only
Content is general educational information in a knowledgeable, not expert, register. It is not personal professional advice, not an application service, and not a substitute for the holder's own guidance. Disclaimers appear on guides and on this policy where the distinction matters.
Deceased persons and privacy
Guides concern deceased persons only. No guide identifies a living person, and no guide publishes material drawn from a living person's record. Photographs and personal papers are discussed as method, with rights and privacy flagged before any sharing.
Dates
All guides on this site carry the real launch date as their published date: 31 October 2026. Dates are not staggered or backdated. If a guide is later changed, its updated date will reflect the real date of that change.
Corrections
Errors are corrected openly and the correction is dated. This site does not offer individual research help, so correction notes concern the guides themselves, not any reader's personal research. See the Sources page for the holders this site relies on.
